Default USB help?

hey guys i'm pretty sure this thread is in the wrong place but i wasn't sure where to post

my Tascam US144 says if i use a usb 1.1 the sample rate possibilities will be limited to 48 khz

but if i use a 2.0 usb it will not be

i have it plugged in to the front of my computer in a usb port, how do i know if this is a 2.0 or 1.1?

excuse me if this sounds stupid i just have no clue!

thanks

If your pc has usb 2 it will automaticaly use it on all ports,to check you have usb 2 right click on my computer, select properties then hardware then device manager, you will see list of all hardware on your pc,at bottom is usb,
click on it,in dropdown list youshould see either usb 2 listed or enhanced controller which is usb 2.Sure its fine bud.If you leave your interface plugged in all the time better on a rear port as front only really for temp plugged in devices like digi cameras, camcorders, dongles etc.

yeah i switched it from the front to the back.... although, my computer is having a really hard time recognizing the device... i mean it recognizes it... and says it's functioning properly but when i have it plugged in, which is yes all the time... my CPU usage is always around 30% and i'm really not fond of that... any suggestions? i've uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it several times now it says everything is working fine but it shouldn't consume so much of my processor's abilities right?

Think you are experiencing compatability problems with pc`s onboard sound and your interface, what you need to try now is disable the pc`s onboard sound,if you are unsure how do do this post make and model of the pc an I will tell how to disable in bios and remove its drivers,if you can do it yourself I recommend unplug interface, uninstall its drivers, uninstall pc`s audio drivers, reboot disable on board sound in bios, save exit, start up install interface drivers then plug in interface.Dont worry to much about numbers at the moment(30%)

Soz Rolando14 just noticed your post,as your pc is starting up hit either delete or f2,you will then be in bios setup menus,it will be in the integrated periphirals, note it wont be called realtek here so read descriptions as you scroll over them, you will easily find it,maybe you got it all sussed by now.
