Default suspected computer problem

i usually hear the tracks that i record while i record them but now i dont hear what i record only until i play back the i can hear what i recorded. the only way i could hear what i record is to activate the monitor on cubase. it was not like this at first but it does this now. do you think it's my computer problem or my sound card problem? i'm using edirol ua-4fx sound card. can someone help me with this problem?

That's the way I work, if I want to monitor what I'm recording I push the monitor button.

I can also monitor from my audio hardware mixer but that wouldn't have any FX processing that I do in cubase.

That's fine if your computer is fast enough, if not then you need to hardware monitor.

You must have it turned off (muted) in your mixer app or the mixer app is having a problem.
