Default So I started ripping a desktop apart today...

okay so I have some specs that I want to reach on building my first monster. I want a quadcore processor, and a mother board with 4 RAM slots that will support a high capacity of RAM (at least 8 gb). what do u think i should start with? I would like to use my case with the power supply (250-watts) and the disk drive. Is 250 watts enough for a system like this? or should i just start from complete scratch?

RAM, motherboard and CPU's use up minimal voltage. Its your drives (HD, CD & DVD) that tend to chew power.
So depending on how many drives and extras you add, you may need to up your PSU to about 400W; its your choice.

Ya, just swapping the motherboard stuff should be painless. I just about always buy a extra fan.
