Im of the opinion that its one of those damned w a r m situations. If you think about it carefully, how noisy could a case be? I mean, what moving parts does it have? Sure you get fans which are quieter and water cooling systems etc which are quieter but I have yet to meet a noisy case.

Cases can and do differ in the amount of sound they can transmit to the air. The noise, of course, comes from the fans. You can't operate a modern computer without fans but you get a case that doesn't transmit the sound as well as some others do. As an example, Antec makes a nice high end case called the P182. It has large (hence quieter) case fans and the sides are covered in a thick plastic material which is pretty dead relative to sound transmission. If you use a good quality power supply with a quiet fan you get a system that is about as quiet as it is going to be. Silent, no. Quieter than average? Yes, indeed. Here are details on the Antec P182. Computer HQ - Antec P182 Black ATX/Micro ATX Mid Tower Case |
