Hello, I've always used Win2K for my DAW, nice and stable and no issues. Recently though I was forced to install XP, due to the rather inconsiderate WIN2K support omission of my favourite sequencer upgrades. So then, my XP disc came with integrated SP 2 and it works fine and I haven't come across any DRM issues yet. My question then, are there any known issues for DAWs and XP Service Pack 3 ?

There have been many people complaining about malfunctioning computers after installing SP3. Unless you have a valid reason for doing so don't do it. I still use SP2 and it works just great. Never upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. |

Thanks for those confirmations. Probably just as well that I've never had 'Auto-Update' enabled. OK, back to the creative processes.

I have alot of probelms with sonar 7, but I am not sure if it is due to SP3 or my FP10 I also have a lag while using compesor in Cubase LE4 with SP3 on the PC. After my auto updates put SP3 on my laptop the wireless card stoped working. I uninstalled SP3 on it and fixed the card problem. I am going to unistall it on my studio PC now knowing it has problems. I belive in the Windows 98% rule: Windows only works 2% of the time, the 98% is when it is turned off.

I've heard some bad reports of SP3 so if it aint broke then why fix it?

I've heard reports of noticeably increased performance with SP3 (sources). So if it's a brand new installation you might as well give it a shot... you can always reformat and install again. HOWEVER if you're already up and running IMO I wouldn't mess with it, unless you particularly care for headaches.
