Default Rack Mount Computer Cases...

First of all I would like to say thank you for offering alot of us (specifically me) valuable insight into a world that has endless options and possibilites.

Im in the process of drastically changing up my work area I was wondering if there are any rack mount computer cases that I can use to rack mount my DAW. Ive seen a few server cases but Im not sure if it will address my needs. Im looking at this (See pic!) Ill be putting the innards of a dell Dimension in there. A few question I have are:

1. Is this possible?

2. Will Heat be an issue and if so how much of an issue?

This is my first post but Ive been reading the site for a while. Its a great thing you do here. Im glad to be a part of this community. Any information on this will be greatly appreciated.

Good question. Small server enclosures must use small fans and are therefore very loud. We are talking about 1U here. However, I would expect a 4U rackmount case to be similar to a standard desktop case in terms of heat and noise. Besides the fact that the 4U case would be a standardized size and is easy to screw into a rack, I couldn't imagine it being any different than any other case.

I would DEFINITEly get a 4U case. If you tracking to keep a 1U case cool, it will sound like a jet engine. I've owned 1U servers for non-recording purposes and they are very loud!
