Default Is a Peavey 14 USB mixer compatible with Windows Vista and Cubase Essential 4

Please help!!! I have a Peavey 14 USB mixer and just upgraded to Cubase Essential 4. I now read the packaging on the Peavey Mixer and it does not specify that it is Windows Vista compatible. Is it possible that this mixer will not work with cubase and windows vista or do I just have to download different Vsio drivers from somewhere? Under Cubase the mixers lights clip but nothing records. I know nothing about this and my 15 year old does all the recording.

Are Peavey USB Mixers not compatible with Vista and Cubase? How can that be?

I have a disconsolate 15 year old who wants to record now and I am too stupid to help him.

The PV14 page lists the supported Window OS versions:
Peavey.com :: PV Series

(compatible with Mac OSX, Windows XP, ME & 2000).
I didn't see any driver updates, contact the company
to see if any are available.

Cubase should work if the PV 14 has ASIO drivers.

Sounds like you already have connected the PV 14 to your PC.

Did you select the PV 14 as the asio device in Cubase ?
If the Cubase track meters are lighting up when you
monitor/record then it's getting signals from the mixer.

Do you have the track record enable selected ?

Good luck and keep us posted

I have connected the Peavey 14 to my computer. The mixer shows sound to the mixer in that the clip lights up, but cubase does not reflect that it is recording. I am not sure how to select the P14 as the ASIO device in Cubase. In the device tab it shows "ASIO DirectX full duplex driver".

I alse have a Yamaha USB 10 mixer and connected it up to my computer and it has exactally the same problem. The mixer clips when I try to record, but this is not reflected in Cubase.

You should be able to see a entry for the PV 14 in the device list
and select it.

I do not own Cubase 4, but here's link to a pdf file:

I think you click on VST AudioBay and
use the pull down to select your master asio device.
