I went with this and have been very happy: Buy PreSonus FireStudio FireWire Recording Interface online at Musician's Friend

If you didn't need the ADAT ins/outs I'd probably recommend going with either of these:
Buy PreSonus FP10 FireWire Recording Interface online at Musician's Friend

Buy PreSonus FireStudio Project online at Musician's Friend

I've been really happy with the Presonus gear I've purchased.

Pricey? An 8 channel audio interface with preamps for $400 is CHEAP! This is, of course, assuming you need an 8 channel audio interface.

Kjaerhus is free. I use it on certain things.

I'd give up on "mastering plugins". They are the same thing as regular plugins. They've created this artificial/imaginary category to trick newbies into buying crap they don't need. (Oh, we'll put an eq, compressor, and limiter in the same package and call it a "mastering plugin"). It's called a "channel strip".

If your CPU is up for it, I've really liked the Antress stuff I've tried.

I came close to snagging a couple UAD-1 cards used off of Ebay for $200 although I've been considering snagging a Liquidmix as well.

My advice would be to buy one plugin at a time. One really good EQ for $200 and one really good compressor for $200 is money well spent. Of course, these had better be VERY good. I think there is a flaw to buying plugin packages sometimes.
