Default Needs some suggestions - New PC

HI there, I'm new and needs some suggestion.

I'm planning to record my guitar playing and put some sampler or maybe strings from my MIDI controller.

I got a old Dell PC with Pentium 4. 512 mb of RAM. The PC only capable of doing only a few tracks of NON effect guitar. So I'm now is ready to buy a budget new PC.
Got the quotation of the PC from PC shop nearby.

Asus Motherboard
- Integrated VGA , LAN
- Integrated 6 channels SOUND

Dual Core 1.8GHz / FSB 800 / 1MB
2 gb kingston 667 DDR2
160 GB Sata HDD 7200rpm

DVD-RW Samsung
Floopy Disk 1.44MB

Samsung Anyzen Combo Keyboard/Optical Mouse
-----------------------------------------------

do you not already own a mouse and keyboard? I don't see the point of buying new ones if you're on a budget.

and umm...you'll probably need a decent video card. Otherwise you might get lag from just using the program.

And at this point, I think you should really look into a quad core computer. I'm pretty sure that Sonar 7 already utilizes all 4 cores, I'm not sure about Cubase though.

What's your budget exactly?

This doesn't sound right. My old Dell with Pentium 4 and 512 MB of Ram did pretty good. Come to think of it, I'm STILL using my old Dell with Pentium 4, although I've got a Gig of RAM now.

Go ahead and upgrade, but if I were you I'd make sure I didn't recreate the same problem, whatever it is, on the new rig.

BTW what is the 6 channels of integrated sound going to do???

May be I should try to upgrade my RAM. Or may kick off all the rubbish software in my PC.

A mouse is like $5 at Newegg.
