Just remember to meet the chipset requirements of your audio interface.
Are there any interfaces that are prone to have problems with chipsets? I do remember all the problems people were having with a particular AMD setup (can't remember what is was called) but thats all I've come across. I've only bought 2 cards (echo and an M-Audio) so I wasn't aware that there was much of an issue to start with.

I'm getting the Firestudio and I know not to get the Nforce motherboard, or the USB/Firewire combo PCI card.

To my knowledge, 99% of all audio interfaces have some chipsets that completely wreck their functionality. My old Delta 1010s hated VIA chipsets.
Presonus Firestudio Chipset Problems and Hardware Compatibility Issues

It's always a rule to check your audio interface's requirements before building a computer. I searched for about 10 minutes before I purchased my Firestudio and couldn't find anything. I said "screw it" and made the jump. When it came in, it had hell with the chipset in my PCI Firewire card. Luckily, all I had to do was toss in a Firewire card with a Texas Instruments chipset and the problem was solved.

If I would have had the wrong chipset in my motherboard I would have had to send the Firestudio back or build a new computer.

After all this time I didn't realise it was such an issue - I've obviously been pretty lucky not to have come across this before, though like I mentioned, I've only bought 2 sound cards. Bloody hell, now I've got something else I have to research - cheers.

To the FSB issue:
Actually the memory speed you choose will ideally be half the speed of your FSB if you intend to use DDR. The reason is the DDR stands for Double Data Rate. So when you pair 2 memory sticks together, the rate transferred is double. In this example, the FSB is 1066. So two 533 sticks are ideal in this case. Using two 1066 sticks will work, but the rate on them can't be doubled since the FSB is only 1066. So it's not worth the extra cash. It is important to mention that the memory sticks have to be paired correctly with the memory slots on the motherboard. This is why alot of motherboards have the memory slots colored differently.

Thanks for the tip! I didn't realize you wanted to go with half the FSB in regard to RAM.

Oh and it's built!
Asus Motherboard with AMD quad-core phenom processor, chose to start with 2 gigs of Balistk ram, will upgrate to 3 if I need it. Simple video card, 1 tb hard drive that's 7200 rpms and pretty darn quiet. cheapo dvd burner.

I got the Firestudio/DigimaxD8 fired up with the Cubase, fired up 12 mics at once at got super low latency without jitters.

I'm back is bidness!!!
