Help with Mac 10.4.10 and Tascam 122L

I recently purchased a Tascam 122L and it works great with my PC. I've set here all night at my Mac desktop and cannot get this thing to record on Cubase LE or Garageband. Can anyone help me with this?? Thanks

go into your apps/utilities and open audio midi setup to insure the audio section is selecting the 122l.. then startup cubase and open input to insure the program recognizes the 122l input. good to cycle the power after u first set this stuff up. welcome to the forum

also b sure the puter is usb2.0 or it wont work..

Thanks for the reply Tom. I did select it in the Audio/Midi setup, one question though. Once the 122L is selected should I be able to adjust the channel sliders that are greyed out below? Also, in Cubase the input from the tascam is recognized and on. I don't know about this computer, I had a firewire interface hooked up recently and I couldn't get any audio out of it either. I'll check about the usb 2.0, thanks.
