I'm sure there is an obvious answer (I think my brain has a few bad sectors) but I was wondering why use a backup program for data as apposed to copy and paste. I can see the point of it for a server but not for a PC you are sitting at. Is it because you install apps to that drive as well or is it just for the convenience of it being done automatically?

It depends on what I'm backing up.
I backup my audio files with a simple copy and paste onto a separate hard drive. 1) This is all that is necessary to properly backup audio files. 2) You'd have to twist my arm to get me to install ANY software that isn't mandatory for making music. I also have a backup of the image of the my C: drive waiting on a hard drive. In the event that something goes wrong, I can do a 100% perfect restore (none of this system restore crap in Windows) of where I was with the backup. The entire process takes about 10 minutes. This has saved my ass in one session already. Create A Perfect Backup Of Your Windows Hard Drive Brandon
