Default blue screen of death?
Ok I just bought a pny 8gb flash drive(usb 2.0), and it works fine in all computers at work but when i put it in mine @ home i get an instant blue screen of death wtf? routing out drivers, is there any other reason you guys can think of? I still have to re check my bios and make sure things are good in that area. Im running xp and i just updated my bios which i think could be the problem?its funny because i have a usb mouse and that works fine in the different usb slots but if i plug my phone in or a flash drive i get the blue screen?if anyone has had this issue please let me know how to resolve it.

I can't switch devices of different functions willy-nilly. If a port is initialized for memory devices I can switch those. Make sure your port is v2.0 capable.

i ran the help function and it said if you see the word enhanced by the usb device in the system's device display then its 2.0, but only 1 said it so i will have to see which one if any work. but i put the drive in all of them and once it tried to access the info and read the drive blue screen. ill check the bios when i get home, damn home made computers thanks for the post garww

You could try reformating on one of the other computers. It could be funky formatting.

this is possible but why would it work on all the other computers but mine at home? i built my computer and i recently updated the bios and after i did that somethings didnt work the same, such as my audio files were changed to a different bit rate my power dvd doesnt play movies anymore lol its always something ill keep working at it and hopefully i can resolve it. thanks again.

your computer was working fine. you updated the bios. now you're getting errors. logic tells me it something to do with the update.
