Default Anyone hate Microsoft as much as I do?

I think microsoft has honestly f***** up my whole opinion on them. Vista is basically useless to record with 32 or even 64 bit. The only good thing they had running for them was windows xp, but I really don't want to run 32 bit due to having more than 4gb RAM and a 64 bit processor. There is windows 64 bit but there is no support or anything for it. The only good thing they had and they can't release a service pack 3 or any good fixes for it. Jeez.

Half the audio interfaces only support stupid vista 64. Ugh.

Anyone else think i'm right?

God, if I had the cash right now, i'd be smiling in front of a new Mac Book Pro.

Bill's only talent was having a Mom you sat on a Board with the Chairman of IBM, and his computer legacy will be one of the gigantic loss of individual productivity.

But no, I don't agree : ) v2, 3, 3.1 &3.11 were not too bad. None were as handy as the virtual machine front ends like DesqView and VM (Wendin DOS, etc..).

Driver support is down to product manufacturers, not Microsoft.

FWIW, Vista 64 is running really well on my machine. All the drivers, including my interface work just fine and the machine itself is running great.

I'm not even sure I'm going to upgrade to Windows 7 at this point, even though it too was really great.

Ya, I'm humming along fine on vista home. But, MS can't seem to understand that processes are AUXILIARY when they go beyond i/o.

I don't believe I have ever have given even one dollar to Microsoft. Never owned a PC and think all their software (browsers included) is crap. Never been lured by the "Oooohh, cheap computer" thinking. Nothings cheap - you totally get what you pay for.

Who do you think Google is referring to in their motto, "Don't Be Evil"?

True, but there is also a point of diminishing return. Finding the balance is very tough.

I've never had a rig I considered to be 100% reliable. I do deal with my share of random, intermittent bugs that seem to have no explanation. However, with a new Mac Pro starting at $2,400, I'm not sure if avoiding a few bugs is worth 6 times the price of what I can build them.

I do have to admit that I hate the crowd they create Microsoft for. You can tell by their cute little names for stupid features that Windows 7, for example, is geared for retards. I see they changed the name of the Show Deskop feature to Aero Peek and managed to make it complicated (according to blogs I've read). I can't imagine what was wrong with a "Minimize All" button. I'm having a hard time imagining the need for new features. I just want to do my thing with folders and run programs faster and more reliably.

No I agree, some of their stuff is okay. But still. Just in general.

No I understand it is, then you also have to think, why do they have the Vista 64 bit drivers for some interfaces but no 64 bit? That's because microsoft doesn't really give much support for it.

And that's cool that you're okay with it, I just think that vista robs a computer of all it's potential speed. I mean honestly, I benchmarked my PC with Vista and XP 64 bit versions and with XP you get at least a 150% speed increase. Vista is a huge memory hog, and I can't stand all UAC things.

Thank you, honestly the only reason I still use any microsoft products is because everything is based around it. For developing and such. But honestly when it comes to RAW power, unsurpassed stability and of course, almost flawless 64 bit stability, Mac is it. For recording. For developing, for anything. So now that Macs have the intel processor, the only thing holding me back for a mac is the cash. But yes, you get what you pay for. In computers, there is no loop around. I'll be getting a MacBook Pro ASAP. IE is crap, I use mozilla. Email? Thunderbird. Office? Nope, I use openoffice.

Yeah, no computer is flawless but i've lost more projects and more work with windows then I have ever lost with Macs. It is very hard to get a Mac to mess up. If I were to count personal experience, i'd say Mac failure is at about 2-3% while Windows counts about 50%
