Default 2 Interfaces 1 Computer

Would it be possible to have two interfaces connected to one computer (let's say a macbook)? And could you record using both of them at the same time? So to clarify, one interface would run through USB and the other through firewire. I remember someone telling me something about setting up two aggregate devices. I'm sure the idea of connecting two interfaces to one computer has gone through many of your recording guy's heads.

I have had success using two pci based soundcards using ASIO4All
audio driver. ASIO4ALL - Universal ASIO Driver

Not sure about usb and firewire, but may work if both have ASIO drivers.

In cubase, you can only select one audio driver, and that's the one you use.

The output of the korg m3 firewire card can be used inside cubase as a VSTi so the sound is routed (kind of like rewire) into cubase through firewire.

It's not usually possible unless the devices were made to work together.

You could patch the audio I/O from one card to the other using ADAT Or S/Pdif if they have it.

I asked Emu if I could use two PCI cards and they said "not at the same time".

Try the asio4all, I'd be interested to know.

I believe that you are correct. I misread the question.

asio4all allows you to use multiple asio drivers, but only allows
one at a time to be active.

Sorry for any confusion.

Look up 'aggregate drivers' for the solution on a Mac. However you will have a better chance of it working when the two interfaces are the exact same.

The Presonus stuff will do this out of the box Mac or PC. Some of the Focusrite Saffires will too. The M-Audio Delta series will too.
