Default Problems when I burn a cd

This may or may not be an AA3 problem. After finishing with the mixing process and having what I consider to be a good sounding recording, I burn off a copy and it seems to become dull. Some of the high end seems to dissappear. Anybody got any ideas.

So you burn your mix to a CD and then listen to that CD through the same monitoring system you mix on and it sounds different? Or are you listening to the CD on a different set of speakers?

That is exactly the problem. I get a different sound through the same monitors. That is the way I found the problem. I recorded a demo for a guy and right after he was satisfied with the mix I burned him a cd. Another guy showed up after I shut the program down so I just played the cd for him. Kind of an AHAA moment.

Seems improbable that burning the file to a CD would alter the quality. Seems more likely that the problem is either in the signal chain from your CD player to your monitors or in the rendering process of your mix. You are rendering to 16bit, 44.1kHz wav yes? You don't have any noise reduction or EQ enabled on your CD player? Are you using an actual CD player or are you using software on a computer to play the CD? Apps like Windows Media Player & iTunes have crappy little graphic EQ's built in that if enabled can really screw with your sound.

one way to test whether it is the AAC would be convert the songs to mp3, burn them and see how they do. In iTunes you can right click on the song and 'create mp3 version'
If you don't solve it and have time, have ago and tell us how you get on.
Good luck

**oh shit i missread your post. AA3 - AAC.
- sorry about that, as you were...
