Thumbs up Little Help with Adobe 2.0 ??

Hi, it's my first post...I'm Bunky from Michigan...and I'm just few weeks into Adobe Audition 2.0 and I have been recording books to cd. My question is:
on a waveform, how do I lower the volume on the peaks, and raise the volume on the low areas? I'm going to convert from sereo to mono also if that factors in somehow.
This is , no doubt, sophomoric to alot of users..but hey, I'm just learning.
I do really appreciate your suggestions.

Many thanks
Bunky

At the top corners of the waveform you can grab and drag down the volume envelope using the select tool.

Thanks for the help...quick question....does it matter if I am converting from stereo to mono, and quality wise if I am dipping into the red occassionaly? It doesn't sound distorted, but I will be pressing cds and what to make sure I am doing all I can to get the highest quality.
I thank you !!!

Not sure why you are converting stereo to mono?

Dipping into the red once in a while shouldn't hurt anything, you are not hearing any audible clipping right?

No audible clipping...converting from sereo to mono as per my boss' instructions, as I understand it, to save on number of cds used.
thank you

It sounds like you are looking for a compressor.

I'm not 100% sure what you are asking.

When we bring in a full stereo file to burn to cd it's over twice the file size of burning a mono version of the same file, even though the end product is stereo.
These are one voice audio files.
Your thoughts

Thanks
Bunky
