im having problems recording

i have been using adobe audition 1.5 for a few years now, but now when when i try to record it doent pic up my voice. when i put the instrumental on track 1 and try to put my vocals on track 2, all it does is duplicate the track that is playin in track 1. is there something i clicked by mistake?

Maybe when you set the input for track 1, you clicked the check box "Same for all tracks", so it caused all tracks to be the same input.
