cool edit exe files

im in need of a cool edit 2.0 or better to run on my new vista pc. i cant for the life of me find my disk and i have no idea how to run the set up on my old hard drive onto the new pc. I click on the app file and it tells me its to re run the set up. damn it! as of now i dont have the use of both fruity loops 6&7 cool edit nor all my plugins especially my waves diamond bundle damn it! can anyone help me with some software so i can start tracking my stuff out again. thanks in advance

Cool Edit Pro is old school, dude. It was designed to run on Windows 95.

I loved it. It was like $25-30 to purchase, it was so straight forward, with no bells n' whistles and was extensible with VSTs and the such.

However, my current Audition 1.5, does not like Vista. More importantly, my Edirol PC-300 Midi Keyboard doesn't like Vista and my Fastrack most certainly doesn't like Vista either.

Install/run in Compatibility Mode for XP/Win95 you say? Sorry! Got that covered too! They don't like it.. not at all!

So you have one of 2 options. Update all your hardware and software to work with Vista (ie., Audition 3 at least), or you go back to XP.

But Cool Edit Pro is out of the question. It's just too old, and will most likely not work with Vista.

damn i like cool edit! and i hate vista so i think im going back to xp or just wait for windows 7 since i have a free upgrade but i will probably have the same problems. shit. thanks again for the info chris! doesnt it frustrate you that non of your shit runs right with vista?

Nope. Cause Vista sux donkey balls. XP works fine for me, though I wish I could use my 64-bits to their full capacity.

But I'm not buying new software and hardware to run Vista.

I'm using Cool Edit Pro 2.1 on VISTA --no problems at all. It is a MUCH better program than Adobe Audition, which I foolishly paid the money to upgrade to.

Also CE allow you to define the import file type, Adobe took this feature out--WHY!!

Anyway, I may be able to help you if you have a valid license.

thanks for the post, im running a demo on my pc now of 2.0 all my other software are legit there just on my old hard drive, i will download the 2.1 today and use that for now. thanks again. im probably just gonna go back to xp until this 7 comes out. but thanks again guys

There exists a program called System Mechanic. It has the ability to move installed programs from one drive to another. Has helped me out of a jam on many an occasion.

I ran cool edit pro on my acer vista laptop with no problems for about two years till the laptop just up and died...
