Default Audition blows

I feel bad for you people. The functionality of this program is so poor that I wonder why a mega company like Adobe ever bought it from Cool Edit Pro.

I was doing some editing in Sonar while an Audition user was hanging over my shoulder and every few minutes he would say.

"Whoa! You can do that?"

or

"Wow, that makes it so much easier!"

I'm not mad at you guys...I just feel bad for you.

Now...let the hate mail begin.

Nice. That post should kick start some genuine entertainment around here. I'm game.

I switched to Cool Edit Pro back when Sonar was still Cakewalk and I was reliably losing entire multitrack project in those stupid corruptable Cakewalk Bundle files. Or losing links to wave files that weren't in bundles. I tried suffering through two more upgrades of Sonar before I ditched it for everything but MIDI editing (which it still screws up rendering VSTi's like Ivory). Sonar was so bad at the time that it had a panic button for when it messed everything up. You could also rely on the "Audio Engine" to die randomly.

Anyhow, sounds like your Audition guy sucks at using Audition. It may need a little help from BeatQuantizer to compete with way more expensive software, but its not nearly as bad as Cubase. You wanna talk about a steaming pile? Woo hoo.

Cheers,
Rafael

I dont think you can base your statement on the comments of someone who clearly doesnt understand how to use his weapon of choice.
I've been using Audition since the early Cool Edit days and I can do anything anyone else can do on Cubase, Sonar or whatever.

I'm heavy into cubase 5 and I like it a lot! I prefer it to pro-tools in fact. It's a big learning curve that's all...once you get into key commands and shortcuts then your productions move swiftly. That being said, I still use Cool Edit Pro for certain things and I like it too!
Now, sound forge is a waste of time I'd rather get out a razor blade....not for my wrists....for tape LOL

This is where it's at for whatever you're using. I try to pull down as little as possible, this save a ton of time.

Long live Sonar!

And yes, I'm glad Cakewalk got rid of the Bundle concept.

Yep, me too! That used to be a bitch of a problem (corruptable bundle files). Now, Sonar's so much more efficient and feature-laden. I love its interface too.

LONG LIVE SONAR!!

()...I couldn't resist.

For a while there I thought I must have switched in to the comedy channel forum

I figured this thread must be one huge joke but I wasn't really sure not until I saw the one about loving the Sonar interface - then I knew this thread was a joke - the Sonar interface is just one of many I collectively call the Fisher Price interface - looks like something you would give a kid to play with

Don't get me wrong if your game is banging out a few midi tunes then sure knock yourself out with the likes of Sonar, Cakewalk etal but if you are talking about serious recording 24+tracks at once full on studio style then you need to leave the toys & glossy magazine baubels aside and use a serious audio recording, mixing & editing tool like Audition.

My apologies if this post is a bit disjointed but I had to stop and check to see if there were any hidden cameras - just in case this was some sort of 'funniest home videos' thing given the previos posts

Yeah if the Sonar interface wasn't so mickey mouse my mixes would be a lot better.
Sheesh! Damned graphical interface! So that's been the problem with my mixes.

Keep up the comedy!
