Hello I've been using Audition 2.0 for around a year to record songs, however the files unused in the project really take up nearly 60% of my HD! Cubase has a feature to clean the project folder off files not used, as far as I know. Does Adobe have it? Currently I try deleting some files, only to end up losing all the bass and half the vocals on a project when I run the project.. Another problem that makes a maniac of me everyday is: I load a project I saved earlier, then turn it off "without making any changes". Bam: "Do you want to save Track_1_178 (2) ? I did not change the file or the project in anyway, and what it attempts to save is the same file. If I say yes, I have to save 20 files and lose disk space, or I say no, then, when I reload the project it asks me to locate Track_1_178 (2), which is the same as Track_1_178. Would be great if someone helped me out, songwriting, playing and recording everything by myself and at the same time study engineering, so little problems like this recur and cost me a lot of time. Thanks! Sorg Uten TÃ¥rer Official Website - Previous Releases Remastered ~ Download Links Updated |

Well if you have a file called track_1_178,and a file called Track 1_178(2), they aren't exactly the same file. Track 1_178(2) would be a "unique copy". Anytime you Ctrl-right click-drag to copy, or just right click and copy it auto creates a new file. This way when you edit one of the files you won't be accidentally editing all of them. Instead of copying files that way, try finding the file you want to copy in the file menu on the left of your screen and just drag onto a track. this doesn't create a new, and you can do as many as you please and still only save one file. also, you can edit each individual file. UNLESS?(this is not your problem?) also right click your clips and goto clip properties and edit the names of your clips so you no what everything is when deleting. all the numbers get confusing!

You need to use MediaSweeper to clean up those unused files. Its donationware. MediaSweeper - Adobe Audition® File Cleanup Utility or AATranslator - Home Page |
