Default Adobe Audition 3 only recording in mono

I have set my Audition up to record stereo, told it to record stereo and yet when recording I still manage to get a mono file with silence/buzzing on one side and the vocals on the other.

I know that I am not very technically minded so it is quite possibly something simple I have over looked.

I know lots of people say to record vocals as mono etc... but I never have, it has always been stereo, the only way around this issue that I know of at the moment is to copy then mix paste it and pan the new layer so it comes out of the other speaker.

Does it record from "line in" in full stereo?

May be your soundcard or mic line. Check both.

I went through setting it up again being careful and paying attention, and it still only records mono but it plays as stereo now. I am a little confused as I am not someone who posses much of any technical knowledge but I am happy with it now that it plays as stereo.

thank you for the reply.

for your adobe audition to record in stereo you should have one good soundcard,

remember maybe when you first installed adobe audition and when you started it told you your onboard soundcard aint that good..

anyways your mono tracks can be converted to stereo..just rite clik on the track, and you can bounce to track as stereo..

or just go to edit in the toolbar, for to mixdown, and clik on mixdown to file stereo
