Adobe Audition 3.0 Help

Okay. I know most of you guys on here might consider me a newbie to this kind of stuff, but not quite so. I'm not a newbie but I'm not awesome at it. I've used Audition 1.0 & 2.0 perfectly fine but 3.0 has blown me away, which has forced me to register to this site for some insight and hopefully some help on my issue.

My system meets the requirements to run 3.0 but when I record vocals in the Multitrack View, it records the beat I've placed in the Multitrack also on top of the vocals. I can barely hear the vocals but majority of the recording you hear is the beat. It has never done that to me before in 1.0 or 2.0. I'm just wondering if there is anyone on here that might know a thing or two about Troubleshooting my problem. It would be a great help so I can finish up my mixtape.

Did any other gear chance or was it just an upgrade in Audition?

wile I can not recall just how I know that you have to go to your sound card and turn off or mute the mic in one or the other record or playback this will keep lets say track 1 from re- recording when you record track 2 ( IT sounds like you are dubing each track you recording ) hope this helps good luck bloody t-----------acoustic

Brandondrury, I appreciate the inquiry. I understand that you like to know more about the whole situation before you give a so to say, diagnosis of the problem.

Acoustic, I appreciate also. Thank you for the help. For further reference though, not only should you have said Sound Playback or Sound Recording, but Midi Playback also. You pointed me in the right direction though. When I got there I tried recording with and without the mic being muted on Sound Playback and Recording, but nothing happened. Then I decided to go to Midi Playback and noticed he mic was unmuted, so I muted it and it worked like a charm.
