Hello to everyone.
So while I had some time to waste, or just some time, I did a test of all my crappy mics through my crappy preamps. I don't really know how this would help anybody but me, anyways... Basically here's the setup. I took all 11 of my budget mics and put them through the 2 preamps I have. Preamps for the first 11 are from my Behringer Euordesk SL3242fx-pro mixer and the second 11 are from my M-Audio Omni i/o breakout box. Both were recorded to a Delta 66 with Cubase SX3. The only time I adjusted gain or levels was when I recorded the condensers. No eq, no nothing. Here's a list of the mics 1 Brite Sound SE-606 uni-directional dynamic microphone 2 Hisonic HM-68 cardioid uni-directional low imp 600ohm dynamic microphone 3 Dixon MD1178 600ohm unidirectional dynamic microphone 4 Peavey PVi uni-directioonal cardioid microphone 5 Audio-Technica ATM41a unidirectional dynamic microphone made in Taiwan 1 6 Audio-Technica ATM41a unidirectional dynamic microphone made in Taiwan 2 7 Audio-Technica ATM41a unidirectional dynamic microphone made in Japan 8 Shure SM54 150ohm cardioid dynamic microphone 9 AKG D125 200ohm cardiiod dynamic microphone 10 Behringer C-2 small diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone 1 11 Behringer C-2 small diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone 2 12 Neumann TLM 103 large diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone The first 11 are through the behringer the next through the Omni i/o. I can't explain the hum/noise on the first two mics through the omni, maybe it doesn't like the cheapness of them. although they sounded "fine" on the behringer. Hope I haven't wasted your time, and please excuse the pasties. Oh yeah I got the idea from another website when I find the link I'll let you know. <edit> ,woops the site was here lol look below. </edit> Steve Last edited by magno : 03-03-2008 at 05:45 PM. You have the most extremely articulate voice I have ever heard in my life!
Thanks for the post. You have a VERY interesting selection of mics. I've not used ANY of them. Brandon
