Default FREE PlUGINS

If you like this guitar sound it was done with free plugins.
1- Nick Crowe 7170 Lead
2- Aradaz Our Cabinet Simulator
3- Antress Modern VDME (compressor)

I tweaked the recording to my liking using Antress Modern Deep Purple (eq),
then added just a touch of reverb with Antress Modern Spacer.

...makes me think twice about buying some commercial plugins for this type of sound. let me know if you like it (or don't)

I don't. Not sure if it's the mixing, the plug-ins, or the recording itself. It's muddy as hell. It does sound more 'full' or 'round' than some other recordings I've heard done with Guitar Rig or a Pod of some sort that tend to sound 'flat', meaning they have no dimension to them at all. This kind of sounds like one of those 5-watt baby Marshall stacks that clips onto your belt. No, no. That's too much of a compliment. It sounds almost that good.

I still think a person is not heading in the right direction when they ask "How does this guitar tone sound all alone?". My thought is "How does this guitar sound in context with the mix I want to make?" may be a bit better of a question to ask yourself.

The ultimate objective here, after all is said and done, is to make mixes. Is it not?

The guitar tone sounds okay to me as a stand alone (because there is no context).

Agree V. Put the track in with the mix to see how it fits in the overall sonic space.

MUM may be right; once you put it in the mix it may sound a bit muddy "as is."

I agree. Although I didn't like it on its own, it may sound great in context with the rest of the mix. However, since it is already muddy (to me at least), I don't see it being much better.

A little buzzy, fizzy with a touch of mud.If you were doing a 70's somthing sounding tune than this would work I guess but not for todays music. It reminded me of when they turned Greg Brady into Johnny Bravo(Brady Bunch) and he recorded his demo, this was his guitar tone."Every tone has it's place" Quote by the great producer Myke Hock.

thanks for the comments....this guitar sound was meant to be critized for what it is, "a guitar sound" made with FREE PLUGINS, it wasn't mixed and it is not part of a song. just like when you plug in to guitar rig for the first time. you tweak the sound a bit until you find what sounds good to you. i realize "the sound" is very retro, but again, when you use amplitube metal, 50% of it would have been used in the eighties or seventies. my intention was to get comments based on the quality of a "free sound" as opposed to a "commercial sound" if that makes any sense. again, thanks for the comments.
