I can't wait to hear this as well. I don't have any of the old unidyne sm 57's. I can feel the tugging on my wallet.

Yeah, I used one of those once and didn't realize it wasn't a 'true' 57 until after the session was over.

Anyway, I have an alternate suggestion as to how to test them. Why not set up a mic stand in front of your monitors (mark the position with some tape so there's no difference when you swap out mics) and play some white noise through them. Record that, and then slap a frequency analyzer on each track and compare the differences that way? Isn't that a little more objective?

Excellent, you can find my e-mail in my profile, if you can't post the files.

I'll look in to doing that too.
Any more suggestions?

I was going to suggest that since you don't have a Re-amp box at the moment.

Just remember to mute the track you are recording to or you'll have a nasty feedback loop.

I hope everybody is ok with pink noise instead of white.
I'm still waiting for DI tracks...

Just out of curiosity. I ordered my SM57 online from music123.com and it came with Shure packaging. This is a true SM57 right? Not like it was made in singapore or something right?

The fakes come with fake packaging too.
You are probably ok, having bought from an authorized dealer.
I'm going to be including pics of the inside and what to look for in a fake before this thing is done.
Still waiting on those DI tracks...
