Default Enhancing basement acoustics for recording drums

So I want to record a live drum set in my basement, but the dimensions are relatively small and the room doesn't sound great. I need help getting the best possible sound. Is there a way I can set up plywood, rearrange furniture, hang blankets, etc. to get a better sound? The mics I have to use are 2 SM57s, a Beta57, an AT4040, and an MXL (2000 I think?). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, that should work. You need to cut down the reflections; plywood and blankets will help. Try to get the kit in the center of the room; not in a corner if you can help it.

Looks like you'll be doing close micing, which will help. You won't get a good ambient room sound, but it doesn't look like you're using overheads anyway.

I used to record drum in a rather small room, like 4x4 meters. No opportunity for room miking and stuff. But placing some bass traps in the corners, and a couch of some sort against the wall opposite to the drums really works. Arranging the furniture so that reflections are diffused from all walls is a good plan too. I think you're on the right path to getting nice sounds there with some blankets and plywood. good luck
