Default Direct to amp vs Reamping

Gear:

-Presonus FIREBOX
-Countryman Type 85 DI
-John Cuniberti Reamp V2
-"High Quality" Monster and Mogami Cables
-Ibanez JS100 with a Dimebucker
-Maxon OD-820 Pro settings as a clockface-(gain 8:30, tone 12:00, level 12:30)
-Peavey Windsor
-Avatar 1x12 w/ Hellatone 60L
-Audix i5

"Windsor Reamp A" is: Guitar->Countryman->Firebox
-------------------------------->Maxon->Amp

"Windsor Reamp B" is: Firebox->Maxon->Reamp-Amp

"Windsor Reamp A+B" is A, followed by B.

You guys know which is which. Regardless, which do you prefer?

Remember, these are the same takes with all the same gear, unchanged mic positioning, etc. so this is just about as scientific as it gets

I hope for some good discussion!

I like A the best. It sounds full without being harsh. I am not very familiar with electric guitars, though - is that the reamped one or the one using only the amp?

"B" is definitely missing a bit of something in the lower midrange. It's not night and day but there is definitely a difference.

Cool shootout.

Is the John Cuniberti Reamp V2 active? Just curious. I use the Radial X-amp (which is active) and I've always wondered if there were any advantages to going passive.

Nope, it's passive. His guarantee is if its not the best reamping product in existence and to your liking, you get your money back.

I liked the way it sounded on the reamp test. Also your AD/DA conversion is going to make a HUGE difference here.
