Default Choir Recording

Hi fellow recording addicts!

This is a clip of a recording I made of a 50 piece amateur men's choir. I recorded it in a local hall using 2 mics. They were my large diaphragm tube mics that I made and they were set up in a mid/side configuration about 20 feet away from the group.
I got a kick out of the fact that they wanted to use a photo of the mics in the M/S config for the CD!
I used my discreet solid state mic pres into 2 LA2a clones direct to disc.

Congrats.

Nice work on the mics.

I can't listen until I get home, but the photo made for a very cool CD cover.

Same here. I'm behind a firewall that's blocking your site.

I really like the way it sounds.

My only suggestion would be to have something in the center of the stereo image. Maybe a third mic panned center. On headphones, it sounds slightly too wide.

Not complaining about it, only mentioning what I personally would have done different.

Nice work!

I agree with boz. Not a deal breaker, but I happen to put the earbuds on (okay, okay, I know who the frick listens to a choir with earbuds!) and it seems a little wide, but maybe, just maybe, if Boz didn't influence me (if I didn't read his post) maybe I wouldn't have noticed as much!

Hey, can you post the CD cover pic? I think that's cool!

Not necessary....it was a mid-side config, so all I would have to do would be to not add as much "side" matrix channels and there would have been more centre info. Yep, I guess I was wide happy....guilty as charged
