Default Christmas Song Context

If there would be a chance to win something useful, I would enter the X-Mas song contest

Entering a contest is just an opportunity to challenge yourself to create a new song based on the current theme, and to share it with others and get feedback on it.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Putting your music on these forums would have been a great step towards your own success.

OK;Thanks for your quote. Although I did not put any X-Mas song into this forum, if you like you can listen to our music anyway on "www.iacmusic.com/magicminds" and also on
"www.iacmusic.com/magicmindsduo". But these songs are not X-Mas songs. We have got one X-Mas song but would like proper promotion for it, maybe X-Mas 2008

You don't consider Kontakt 2 to be useful?

While not everyone is into MIDI sequencing and such, the damn thing cost $400 just a few months ago.

Hi Brandon
To be honest, no, I do not believe in Midi Sequencing.I do not believe in any technical trickery when it comes to recording. For example, a drummer that can´t keep time should forget about recording, a singer that can not sing should, instead of using pitch control software, not record at all. Or do record to learn from mistakes.
Learn to play your instrument properly so you do not need any technical trickery during the recording process. I do not believe in gear or software that trys to make a non-musician sound like a musician. Recordings like this, anyway, sound soul-less and dead.
Real musical talent can not be replaced by any gear or software. Some of the software and gear available today kills real talent, I guess Midi Sequencing is alsopart of this. If I had Kontakt 2 it would go straight in the rubbish bin.

Ciome on Alien, it's not what you win or whether you win or lose; it's for the fun, just as Chris said.

Gee, here I thought I was having FUN making some music with the limited abilities that God gave me. Somehow, the trickery of a good instrument in a good amplifier, through some good software allowed me, for a brief instant, to feel part of something musical. Now I realize that I am just a fraud. Thanks for that! Merry Christmas, Dave

Hi , yes - OK - it might be fun. But real music is to play an instrument properly. For example, using drum loops has nothing to do with real music or real drumming. Music is kind of an expression. Machines can´t express themselves.
Machines that for example control the pitch of singers, it is sad that machines like this are invented. Look for example at Kylie Minogue, she can not sing at all and has no musical talent at all. A nice ass does not make a singer. She was produced by using this kind of pitch controling software or gear. At the same time there is real talent out there who does not need these kind of cheating gear or software. There are real drummers out there who can play a song from start to finish in one take without loosing time. By using Samples, Sequencers etc Music looses its identidy and power. Sorry guys, but I have no respect for productions using this kind of cheating software or gear, but I have a lot of respect for real musicians, singers and songwriters. Hope you don´t mind me beeing honest.

Yes, I understand that. I have an X-Mas song and would there be the chance
to win something really useful I probably would have downloaded that song here, taking some kind of a risk because the song has no copyright yet.
So I´ll save it for next time. By the way, I don´t believe in christmas which in a way, is a celebration where millions of innoscent turkeys (and other animals) are murdered.

i fully agree with you on much of your artistic points but it's out of context -this is just the gang fukin off here. and i also agree this is nuthin more than a bloodfest season for creatures of many types. the most fuk'd up thing about this christian celebration is that 25k peeps will die of starvation today, and the jesus lovebeat goes on. sik. but again this is out of context as a formal discussion. i will say the midi gear is important to songwriting. i also think it's fine to use a synth in any context. and, if the world is so ignorant that it will purchase most music unknowing it is midi/sampled then, so b it. that's when sumthin unique comes along from out of the monotony -like punk/new wave did to lead guitar rok in the 70's. it just takes a few hip kidz to start the anti corporate scene and.... i believe this world is at that very juncture once again. you could have joined us fuk offs and you could have brought these important points you make using music -a song. sum of us did that
