Whats your setup mate? And how are you plugging the guitar in to the interface. As many details as you can give the better

Its weird. Especially if you've just created a new audio track in a new session. I was thinking it might be a feedback loop from a bus or track output setup wrong but thats unlikely if you're just starting from scratch. It might be an idea to download Protools 8 cs3. There are a number of bug fixes in it but nothing specifically relating to your problem. You never know though, might help

Sorry I cant be of any more help

Does the mbox2 come with a software asio router ?

If so, it may be possible that you have the direct monitoring levels up and you're hearing the direct monitoring and protools monitoring at the same time.

You may want to open the software asio router and mute all the asio inputs and see if that fixes the problem.
