Also I can get this mic at $6000! I thought thats a great deal! Now im actually thinking about buying a Manley Gold Reference and a Blue Kiwi instead of the Sony C800G. Do you think thats a good idea?
So your aim is to save up and get something when you get back?

I would suggest you wait until you get home, then make a business plan. If you're serious about this (rather than bored and wanting to spend lots of money on something), you'll need infrastructure. It certainly doesn't sound like you have the knowledge to run a studio on your own. You can (and probably should) buy expertise to help you. In any event, running a business takes a lot of resources.

In your situation, before you spend any more money, I highly recommend that you buy Brandon's Killer Home Recording series when it is re-released in (I believe) November. It will give you a solid understanding of the basics of recording. It will give you an idea what high-end gear will and will not do for your recordings. If you don't know what you're doing, recordings done with ultra expensive gear will still sound lousy.

As the others here have been saying, your current setup is more than adequate for what you're doing. If that money is truly burning a hole in your pocket, you can send some on over to me...

Sounds like you have a serious case of gear lust. You are every sweetwater sale's engineer's dream: wanting to blow cash without a clue what anything you're buying does.

ha, yeah, if I was sitting on a pile of cash that I had absolutely no use for, then I might consider buying some expensive stuff, but even then, it would only because I could, not because I need or even want any of it.

Unless you are the son of a multi-millionaire, then your spending habits aren't going to suit you too well while trying to run a business.

Did you ever see that episode of 30 rock where Tracy Jordan realizes he doesn't have to work any more so he quits his job and plays in his home studio all day? I can't help but see the resemblance here.
