Default Protools and RTAS - Trilogy

Hi.

I use pro tools 7.4 on a laptop with vista. I have recently purchased Spectrasonics trilogy bass module, have installed it on my PC but cann seem to open it in protools. I am only new to all this and i'm not sure what the difference is between, VST, RTAS, Dxi and all that kinda stuff but in the process of learning. Does anyone know how to open or run Trilogy in pro tools? Should it come up under the audiosuite?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately, I know zero about Pro Tools and can't help you. I moved your post to the Pro Tools thread so maybe someone will hop on it.

it has been a while since I used PT but here is what I think should work: click on an insert and you should see categories... one of those categories should be "instrument" and under there I'm thinking you're likely to find this thing you're trying to use. I never heard of this thing but from what I just read about it I think it'll show up that way as long as it installed successfully. That's something to try until a real protools expert comes along. If that fails I have another idea, but let's try this first.

Good luck.

Charlie

I have checked the all the track categories under every sort of track but still can not find it. I have re installed Trilogy three times. It works fine as a plug in wih live but i cannot access it through pro tools and live will not operate plug ins while rewired to pro tools. Can anyone suggest a better plug in that works to create great bass sounds?

Sorry my idea didn't work. Before giving up on it, contact the manufacturer by phone I'm sure they've had this question 100 times. They may even have a faq on their website that addresses it...if all else fails, RTFM is a good last resort.

Another place to check:

duc.digidesign.com

If none of that works, try Reason and rewire it in. I never used it for e-bass but for acoustic I have to say I thought it was respectable acoustic bass sound. For e-bass I just use my old cheap frankenstein bass with jazz pups that I got on craigslist for $100... they are out there and this thing sounds great (for rock) even through my 002 pres. If you can play guitar you can fake it on bass such that nobody will ever know except other bass players and well.... nevermind about those guys ;~) Charlie

PS; two other things I want to add... there is such a thing as an instrument track and that may be the only way it'll show up (that's f'n wacked if that's how they wrote the code but what do I know...I say try it some coders are just that way...). Also, are you seeing an entry for "instrument" when you click on the insert?

Editorial: Funny thing is... I have PTLE on the machine I'm typing on but I'm on the road now, nowhere near any digi hardware so I can't fire up the software to definitively say what I did in the past. That's one of the reasons I bailed on PTLE. Nothing against the product... but that aspect was a pain for me so I never use it any more. Try reaper...you'll probably never go back man.... I try to never say never but I doubt that I ever will go back.
