Default Problems W/ Mbox2 Mix Knob

Now I might be asking the sillyiest question but Im so confused with the mix knob on the Mbox 2. Ive been using my mbox just to make beats and now Im trying to do alittle recording into protools and the mix knob is giving me all kinds of echo... Now Ive been able to get some decent recordings but Im still hella confused with this mysterious knob.

Protools People please help me get this together. I like protools (RECORDS IN CUBASE 4 and loves it) but I wanna start using protools more.

Thank you for all your help.

The mix knob on the Mbox series is an analogue path that allows you to hear a mix of the input at the mic pre, and the playback from Protools. The echo is latency between the signal at input and the time taken to be processed. The idea is "zero latency" listening to the input, but it takes careful tweaking for this to be useful if you are playing along to backing tracks. its been a while since I've used an mbox, but I seem to remember leaving it on playback and lowering the playback buffer (setup>playback engine) to 128 or 256.
If the latency still affects your playing, mute the playback channel of the instrument you are recording and use the mix knob to adjust the mix of input to backing tracks

Hope that helps

Good Looking, I appreciate the reply. Im trying to get the perfect setting so I can use Protools to do some tracking but I still havent gotten it right.

Ahh well I guess Im gonna have to keep using my first Love... CUBASE 4...

At present Im only using protools for its instruments. Ive given up on tracking vocals in protools using the Mbox2. Ill just have to wait til I get my hands on a 003+ Rack.
