Hey all, I just bought a M-Audio Firewire Solo and I am pretty happy with it. I have Cubase SX 3 and the quality of my recordings have been pretty good. Well here's my issue, the firewire solo came with a demo disc of pro tools le 7, and when I try to load up the program it tells me that it cannot find M-Audio devices on my computer. I installed the firewire solo the correct way by installing the drivers first before plugging it in like it says in the manual. I've trried uninstalling and re-installing Pro Tools and still no luck.. I think Cubase is a great program but I still want to try out Pro Tools and see what the hype is all about, but the darn thing won't even start up! Someone please help

Well, you've got me. I personally find Cubase SX3 so good that I have no need to try out other software. It's not that I refuse to "grow", it's more of an issue of focusing on the weakest link. Unless you have strong motivation to really try Pro Tools (and you may), I'd guess that your time could have been better served by writing a song. That's just my opinion. I've been through enough gear to know it's all the same more or less.
Now, in regard to troubleshooting Pro Tools, I have no idea. Digidesign plays be a totally seperate set of rules. Brandon

Yea don't get me wrong I like Cubase SX3.. I bought the firewire solo so I could use cubase more effectively using asio stuff and lower latency on recording. But I've also wanted to try out Pro Tools since I see it everywhere and always hear about it being so amazing... well maybe pro tools just hates me so ill stick to cubase =)

Make sure you have Pro Tools Le - M Powered. for use with the M-Audio interfaces.

I believe that the last post is correct. If you are using the M powered le, then you need to use the M-audio interface. They kind of go together. With PT le, you must have a digidesign interface or it won't work. The M-audio should work with your cubase program just fine. I think the reason your PT le is not working is because it is not designed to work with the M-Audio. Yes, they are owned by Digidesign, but that is because Digidesign bought M-audio out. So you have M-Powered le+M-Audio interface.....ProTools le +all of the Digidesign interfaces from the orginal M Box on up... I hope that helps you.
