Hi, I recently installed Pro Tools 8 onto my dell studio laptop 2gb ram with Vista Home Premium. Pro Tools runs fine and loads no problem, but when it comes to recording and playback I always recieve an error message saying that "the operation system hold off interupts for too long try increasing the H/W Buffer". This happens when running on the default settings - 512 samples, 85% CPU ETC When I do increase the buffer to 2048 samples (This is the only setting that makes a notable difference) I can record and playback for longer amounts of time but their are problems with latency at this buffer setting... and I imagine as I record more audio in a session that it will soon start to display the hw buffer message again. Altho I am able to record at this buffer setting it isn't ideal. I have used a 256mgb flash drive in the usb which seems to have helped slighty and records for longer I think, at the default 512 setting... Can anyone suggest anything to make my vista system run faster, any services or programmes i should delete from Vista or settings i can change in pro tools? or is the only answer to get a bigger flash drive to plug into the usb? Any one having this same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

I have a G5 dual 2.5 Ghz w/ 1.5 Ghz ram and Pro Tools 8 doesn't even let me play a few audio tracks without getting a buffer error (usually -6086) I'm running it on a 003 Rack+Factory. Somebody please help! I've already moved sessions from drives, changed drives, and used different firewire ports. I know that I need to upgrade my ram but shit! It doesn't even play 3 tracks!
