Default Pro Tools 8- Doesn't recognize C: drive as acceptable playback volume

I'm running Pro Tools 8 on Vista and when I try to save my files to the hard drive, it tells me that my C: drive is not an "acceptable playback volume". How do I fix this????

Please help. Thanks so much...

I had this with m-powered where it wouldn't let me record on one of my external hard drives. I never did solve the problem I transfered the files to a drive it would recognize and it has been fine. Wish I could be more help. Welcome to the forum!

Probably one of the smartest things PT has ever done. I don't recommend anything be put on C:.

So that's a fact? PT FORCES you to avoid C drive? Seems rather fascist.

your external hard drive has to be in read and write mode. you can make changes to your drives in pro tools. in the 'workspace'. it's under the window menu i believe. when you bring that up you should see the drives and columns with the letters 'A' for audio and 'V' for video. Make sure its in the right mode for what your trying to do. Maybe reboot pro tools andddd you should be good.
