Default plugin directory?

hey,
i've been workin with many programs so far; cubase, nuendo, audition, sonar 8, wavelab and more..

all of these have a simple way to set a plugin/vst/vsti directory,
is this possible on pro tools 7.4 m-powered?

i've looked at most of the options, and i cant seem to find any way to create a new directory, so that i can add my plugins and whatnot!
please help!
cheers!

You need to use the default location, >Program Files>Common Files>Digidesign>DAE>Plug-ins.

Why would you need to change this. Pro Tools only accepts RTAS anyway, which should always be installed on your SYSTEM drive for best performance.

As I mentioned, plug-ins work better installed on your system drive.

It is ok to have libraries on separate drives but the actual .dpm needs to be on the same drive as Pro Tools.

Just how it works I'm afraid.

ya, i just reinstalled the majority(waves) onto my C drive!
but why did pro tools find my vsti(native instrument komplete 5) on my other drive?

p.s.
i realize that pro tools has alot of work put into it, but as i already stated, is it so hard to add multiple vsti/vst etc. directories?

thanks for the reply's btw!

Well unless you have the Fxpansion VST-RTAS adapter Pro Tools won't find VST's. When you wrap your VST's with the adapter it automatically places an RTAS file in the Plug-in directory.

If you haven't got the adapter and your Komplete 5 is in RTAS format too, which it should be, then I don't know how it found them.

"is it so hard to add multiple vsti/vst etc. directories?"

Shouldn't be, but this is the world of Pro Tools, it's anyone's guess!!??

No Problem,
