patching and external sends

I have an original mbox, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to record my session back on a track.

Basically, I'm just trying to patch a click track out and back in and record it so I can measure my latency.

So, I have two audio tracks One has a click on it, and the other is recording enabled. The output on the click track is audio 1-2, and the input on the recording enabled track is source 1. I connect an instrunet cable to the speaker TRS out and to the source 1 jack. I get weird feedback. Same thing if I use a TRS cable.

So, same two tracks, but I use a send on the click track, and I connect my cable(s) between the insert 1 out and the source 1 input. More feedback.

What's going on and how do I do what I want to do?

most likely your second track (the one you are recording on) is also assigned to outputs 1/2 as well which is causing feedback. the problem of feedback will occur because once the click signal is input into track 2, its output is going out and back in the source. whatever is being output through 1 and 2 is what you're recording, which will cause the loop.

either disable the outputs of your recording track in your DAW or assign it to other outputs until you're done recording and it should work just fine.

Ha. No problem. With me its usually the simple solution that eludes me after overthinking all the endless other possibilities. That's why we're here. How's the latency look now that you've got it working?
