Exclamation Need MBOX 2 to work on Vista

Hello everyone!! thanks for the **** welcome.

Does any boddy know any solution to make an MBOX 2 audio interface to work on Vista?...as I heard there're no drivers available for this device yet...I need to have at least an Idea when will this be possible; I tried to contact the customer service but it's being kind of difficult for me to reach them, so any help in any way will be valuable and appreciated for me. THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE

...sorry if I posted anything wrong!!!

Man, you are screwed. I remember waiting for Digidesign to come out with a working patch when Service Pack 2 for XP was released. It took them months and months. It was horrible. I truely cannot stand that company. Bunch of idiots, those people are.

You can try to do what I did to get Waves plugins installed on my Vista machine:

Right-click on the M-box driver file you want to install and then go to the "compatibility" tab. Then check the box that says, "run this program in compatibility mode with Windows XP." If you already have gotten it to install, but cannot get a driver or whatnot to work in Vista, then do the same thing: Right-click on whatever driver or file isn't working and set the compatibility to XP.

Like I said, I went to install my Waves Musicians Bundle 2 on my Vista machine, and much like your Mbox, it said it wasn't compatible. There are no updates on the Waves site (they too are morons) and so I did what I just described to you above and got everything working perfectly! It's generally the installers' compatibility that are the issue, not so much the device working with Vista or not.

Give it a shot.

happy new year to everyone, all the best for all of you!!!

hey!! yeahyou'rsteve, thank you so so much for your good intention and kindness I really appreciate that of you...meantime I'm very sorry for this delay on replaying you (my time's been a mess). However! that step was the first one I tried, before I posted here; actually that's what I always do with all the incompatibles apps to make them work on Vista, BUT!! this one (drivers) didn't...now, if you're telling me that it worked for you, I must consider that perhaps I left some .EXE unchecked behind...maybe I gotta try that again more carefully. In any case THANK YOU VERY MUCH, I whish the world would be full of people as kind as you.

see ya.

The fastest way is to install XP.

Hey all,
I'm getting ready to retire my faithful ADAT and invest in a PC recording system. I have a decent "Best Buy" computer w/ Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS. Im starting from scratch. I have zero hours experience in the PC recording realm. A sales engineer from sweetwater has been guideing me down the path towards an MBox 2 because there is Tons of books and info on ProTools compared to the rest. What concerns me is all this "nightmare" talk w/ Vista OS. Does Vista work w/ anything? What would you all suggest I do if you were in my shoes? All suggstions welcome!!
Thanks,
Mark

pro tools isn't compatible with vista yet. don't feel bad, though, i hate on digi every day they don't release an update for OS 10.5, myself. having to wait on them is hell on earth.
I would suggest back everything up on your pc, and transfer it to another machine. install a FRESH copy of XP pro, never connect it to the 'net, and only use that pc for recording. (if you have this luxury, use that particular pc ONLY for recording. it will drastically increase it's stability.) upgrade when you can. but i hear you on that one. they really need to get their act together on these updates.

Hi alx,

I bought an mbox 2 with pro tools le 7.3 a few months ago and had the same problem. Only pro tools 7.4 or higher is compatible with windows vista. Register with digidesign and you will be able to don load 7.4 for free. Works great for me.
