Default my RTAS usage rises without me doing anything as time passes.

I'm confused as hell. Whenever I record anything i have to do it within the first 5 minutes of having the program up, because it dies shortly after, loud humming noises and stall ect. I was watching the CPU usage and everything was minimal except the RTAS usage which slowly rises without the use of anything real time, or playback or anything. There are audiosuite plugins active not many maybe 5 and the track is about 4 minutes long. I can't figure out why this is happening. Any ideas??

i posted a similar question yesterday, my friends mac g5 says cpu running out of memory when he is running a session with effects? could this be a similar problem? is there any way to lock or freeze the rtas's so they dont run up the cpu memory?

Until Opacheco gets back to you...

For now make the plugins "inactive"

You can right click the send, the entire track, or the plug in itself and select "make inactive." It will become greyed out.

If you are a key command guy I believe it is ctrl + command + click on the plug in you want inactive.

now will this actually turn the effect off as well? i need to be able to use these effects during a session so i guess turning them off will not be what im looking to do, i just need to conserve some cpu while running a session. thanks for the info tho i will pass it along.

Then you can print the track with the plug in to another new audio track and make the others inactive. That will give you the audio region or track with the effect during the session.
