hey guys,
I am looking into getting new recording software and I am trying to decide if I should get Reason 4.0 or Protools. I have a Micro Korg MIDI controler/keyboard and a toneport UX2 interface for Audio. Can some one please tell me if you can use my korg as a midi controller with Protools and if i can use my toneport interface to record audio with protools??? help. |

I've never recorded nothing with reason, but out of all the recording/editing softwares I've worked, pro tools is THE one (mostly in the editing part). You can record using your tone port but pro tools only work with specific hardware (digidesign's or m-audio's). And if the pro tools hardware has MIDI ports, you can record with your korg as well. I have an MBox and have acquired a toneport UX1 and am very pleased with the results, since I prefer to work in pro tools and enjoy very much the guitar/vocals sounds of toneport. So, you can connect the toneport to the pro tools hardware inputs but that way you have to invest in 2 hardware audio interfaces (pro tools and the one you already have, toneport). Hope i was of some assistance.

If you are not going to record using microphones, then Reason is probably the better choice. I don't have much experience working with MIDI in Pro Tools, but everyone says that it's not that great compared to other programs like Reason, Albeton, etc.
