No error messages. Just a small greyed out page with the title bar "Welcome To Pro Tools LE". The program doesn't even begin to install. At this juncture I've pretty much given up and will have to wait until I can afford to purchase another computer to run Pro Tools. This decision came after I hooked up the MBox2 Mini without the program installed and I received a message from Microsoft Tech Department stating that they have been in contact with Digidesign and they have been told that there are not now nor are they expecting in the future any support for Vista Home Premium. This information is not stated on the Digidesign website. They only mention that "Although Windows Vista Home and Home Premium Edition have not been tested or qualified by Digidesign, there are currently no known issues with Vista Home and Home Premium 32-bit operating systems with Pro Tools compared to the supported Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition operating systems". It was this particular paragraph that caused me to make the buy only to find out I got shafted. I feel that Digidesign is willfully misdirecting those of us with Vista Home Premium who would like to move up the audio ladder with Pro Tools only to find out that we need to spend more money. I would have returned it but since I opened the software it is deemed 'not returnable'. This is real BS. Anyway, enough with the rant. If someone knows a way I can get this running on my system, please advise. |

I am using vista home premium too and have no problems so far!! Are you trying to install the software before or after the device is plugged in? Gar |

I have attempted the install before I plug in the MBox2 Mini. For the record, after numerous attempts to install the program I decided to restore the OS to it's original state to see if it would work. PTLE8 still didn't install and get past the greyed out welcome screen. So as for now, I don't even have Service Pack 1 installed on my system. What type of PC do you have? Is it a Dell? I'm using a Gateway. Last edited by maurkeys; 11-26-2009 at 05:49 PM. |

I have a fujitsu siemens laptop, 1.87 Ghz core duo with just 2 GB ram on VHM 32 bit and don't even have service pack one installed either. Is it a 32 bit OS? i'm not sure now what the problem is but hopefully someone else will have an answer for this!! Gar |

Gar, Thanks for taking the time to reach out nonetheless. I'm pretty savvy when it comes to pc problems but this one has got me on the back of my heels. I've never known a software that is so peculiar that it will not install on a pc because of the chipset on the motherboard. [I did try to install it on XP Pro based hard drive on my same system and it didn't work either]. I'm not sure if this is the case but I can't fathom why it would install on one computer and not the other with the same OS. All I know is PTLE8 better be all that when I purchase my new computer, lol. My system is 32 bit. |
