help with protools please

I am using a mac g5 with an mbox 2 and protools le 7.1.1. the story goes, my hard drive crashed about 2 months ago, and since then my studio has been in shambles. I never knew about the surge protector thing. So, the situation that I am faced with right now, that is having a horendous effect on my recording is, after i record my first track, everything is fine, but when i go to play something on the second track with the first track playing the volume on the second track becomes much lower, and also, i can not see the levels (see if its clipping) until i stop playing the first track. the sound on the second track is also changing a bit, when the first track is playing, and when i press stop on the first track, the second track goes back to normal. for the first 2 years i have used protools, it never went like this, but since i set it up after my computer crashed, i havent been able to record very comfortably. can anyone tell me what i need to change, in order to get the consistency back. thank you.

So, is it a new hard drive? Did you reinstall everything on the old hard drive? What have you done since your hard drive crashed?

after i had a new hard drive installed at the apple store, i just simply uploaded the same protools version I initially had 7.1.1 before the crash. I only use this computer for my studio strictly, so, that the processor is not used for anything else that would mess with my recording quality. its really weird. I mean, i can make beats right, but my beats have been pretty bad since i got things fired up again a few months ago, because im not really able to hear exactly how the beat im making is going to sound when im making the beat. im kind of wondering if my mbox2 needs to be replaced or something. ive been looking at a couple different forums, and i havent seen anyone that has encountered the same problem as im having yet. darn. thanks for any ideas or suggestions youve got, its appreciated.
