Okay, this is probably I complete newbie question, but here goes.
I just recently got my Digi 003 rack, and Pro Tools 7.3 le. I was using Logic Express 8. Im having trouble with ezdrummer. Steps I am taking. 1.Create stereo instrument track. 2.select ezdrummer as instrument plugin 3.drag a groove on the workspace. (here comes the trouble.) In logic I could grab the back of the groove I had just dropped in and pull it out as far as I wanted it to loop. I try select the loop tool, but it let me do anything with whats on the work space.. Can this be done in pro tools or am I just doing something completely wrong. Im about to pull my hair out! haha. are there any good tutorials out there about using ezdrummer and pro tools? Thanks! |

do you want to make stereo sound with ez and you have the midi files? then you have to open the midi file in protools and insert ez drummer as a vst instrument and in the miditrack you also have route it to the vst instrument. sorry if i told you something you already know |

I may be doing this wrong, but.....
I create a stereo instrument track. Set ezdrummer plugin, then drag my grooves on to the created track. The problem I was having was that my track view was "notes" . Once I changed the track view to "regions" I as able to loop, grab, etc. So.. Am I wrong by using an instrument track for ezdrummer? Should I be using a Midi track instead? If so, what is the difference and/or benefit? Thanks for any help!! j |

ooh ok. you HAVE TO use a miditrack for ezdrummer. the difference you can read on wikipedia (midi). it's a big difference.
what do you mean by dragging your grooves into the created track?? hwo do you create your grooves? is the groov a midi file or what is it??? and a good tip: put your midi file into a midi track and put the vst instrument (ez drummer) into the midi track and then save this single track as stereo and wave and then load it into your mix. it doesn't net so much CPU. |

I am using ezdrummer as a virtual instrument. It is my understanding the an instrument track in pro tools combines the audio and MIDI elements of a given virtual instrument into a single channel strip. This actually seems to be working great now. What I mean by dragging my grooves. From ezdrummer, you can drag a selected groove from the ezdrummer plugin onto the workspace. This creates a region. I can then, loop the region, move it on the timeline where ever i want. etc. |
