Digidesign MBox 2 Mini: help

I have the mbox mini and when I install protools and connect the mbox it is not lighting or not popping up as a new hardware my ? is Can this Mbox burn out or is something wrong with my computer. I check all the usb ports and there working fine.

your USB ports may not support it. and u cant use a hub at all. try updating the driver for whichever usb port you are using

Here is the whole deal. My mbox mini 2 worked fine with my pc. My pc motherboard crashed so now i want to use it on my other computer (mac g4 ppc) the mbox light does not come on when it is plugged directly into the apple nor does it work after I install pro tools le. When I try to open PT Le it says there is no hardware. I have tried to install it on a friend's pc and the same problem occurs. Could my mbox be damaged by whatever damaged my motherboard or can i find a driver on the dvd installer that may help. I would really hate for the problem to be the mbox. Is there any other way I can test the mbox to make sure it works. (I don't know anyone with one to switch out.) Thanks in advance. :confused

I have a similar problem with a brand new mbox 2 mini: I have installed successfully the software on both a PC Compaq Presario and a Laptop Toshiba Qosmio, and when I plug the hardware the light goes on on both, but always a message pops up saying that the hardware is not found.
I learned that digidesign mbox 2 is incompatible with some computers and laptops. Does anyone know which ones?
Are the PC Compaq and the Toshiba Qosmio incompatible with that interface?
