Default DFHS with Pro Tools

Quote:
...When I was in the construction window in DFHS, I noticed the volume was really low, so I turned my monitors up max and used the m-box as a master volume... but it still wasn't as loud as I thought. Is there something I forgot to do?

Also, I got everything working now as far as PT & DFHS. I finished the tutorial and tried to play the sample midi file, but all I could hear was the kick drum. I want to be able to use my key rig to control DFHS, but I'm not getting it to work properly. It crashes PT. Is it as simple as a setting in DFHS I need to find or is it something with PT?

Thanks man!

Hmm. I've never had this problem with DFH Superior and Cubase SX3. The levels have always been plenty hot. So we need to start troubleshooting. What levels are you hitting in your stereo bus in Pro Tools?

This makes me think you are using a pre-existing MIDI file that uses a different map that what you are using in DFHS. A good way to test this is to go to the DFHS screen where you can hit the little pads. Hit the kick drum, snare, toms, etc and see if they are working. If they work, the problem is you are using the wrong map or have simply triggered sounds that do not exist (maybe C#5 doesn't do anything in DFH, for example and you need to be using C#4 or whatever). If the sounds don't work in this window with the pads, something is wrong with DFHS. I would make sure you have installed it correctly.

I have no idea. I'm not a Pro Tools user.

As far as recording drum tracks, do I want to create an instrument track or a midi track? I'm going to be using the key-rig to trigger the samples and layer them, but do I want to layer them all on one track or does each drum get its own track? What's the best way to do this??

Well, unfortunatley, this is a Pro Tools question that I don't know the answer to. In Cubase, you have MIDI and audio tracks. It's simple enough.
I'd assume you want the MIDI track, but I'm not sure what an instrument track is.

A single MIDI track contains all notes. This is what you see when you open up your sequencer and see dots for the kick, snare, hi-hat, cymbals, etc. This is routed to DFH which then outputs the various sounds to individual tracks. Does that make sense? While you COULD put a MIDI track down for kick and another one for snare, I definitely would not do this.

You create a midi track for dfh then an stereo aux input for dfh.
