Default Comparing takes in Protools

Hi guys,

Quick question, how does one do mulitple takes in protools and easily compare them? I know I can just keep creating new audio tracks etc, but I'm sure there is a more intuitive way to do it.

If my question is unclear this is my situation. I'm records a drum track, and I'll get the drummer to play through the song 3-4 times or until he gets it right. Being able to compare each track and pick out the best bits would be sweet.

I'm using PT8 also.

Sorry if its a dumb question, but if you don't ask you'll never know.

Playlists are the key.

In Pro Tools 8 the new playlist view is great. Instead of recording each take to a new track, create a new playlist. This will create virtual tracks which you can swap between, ans in playlist view you can see all your takes at the same time, and choose which ones to listen to by solo'ing the playlist.

Read the Pro Tools Reference Guide for more info on playlists.

AWESOME !!! thanks man, you've made my day.

Previously I've recorded over and over on the same audio track so I might have 8 drum takes. Is there any way of placing those into a playlist? Although I'm guessing if I read the reference I'll probably find out there is.

Thanks again.

If the audio files are still in the regions bin, you can create 8 new playlists and then drag the audio files onto the playlist tracks.

If you're in loop record, then new playlists will automitically get created on each pass, and the audio files will be arranged accordingly.
