Default Assignment for Class

hello I just joined this sight in hopes that other members can help me with learning the basics of protools, and different micing situations. I am currently enrolled in a music and arts school that teaches audio production and live performance and sound.
My first assignment is to learn all the different types of views that you can use in protools (different windows, hiding tracks, showing tracks, ect..), protools hardware, and to learn about compression in general.

can anyone give me basics about the different views in protools, and compression, it would very much appreciated.

Hi! Welcome to the site.
There are somewhere between a gazillion and a bajillion threads on compression. Waste a couple hours and read through a few dozen. I have no doubt after that you'll have a new, specific question to ask that applies to your particular situation.

Open an existing (tutorial?) session and start playing around. Outside of that, read the manual. Nobody's here to do your homework for you.

The manual is your best friend. Check the index or search for "mix window" "edit window" "hide tracks" etc. It's got all the information you're looking for, and you will remember the information better if you find it yourself, as opposed to having it handed to you. If you spend more than 45 minutes looking for a single answer, then maybe come back and post the question.
