I'm usually not thankful around this time. In fact, I'm usually downright pessimistic and resentful of life and the season in general. Although I do have my reasons why this time of year is difficult for me, I thought I'd try a new approach this year.
Instead of being negative and having a 'poor me' attitude, complete with all the fixings of misery, I decided I was going to be thankful for everything in my life - even if I didn't start out feeling that way. So I set out to write a song that would make me feel thankful for all I had, for all my success this year, for having great friends and experiences, and an attitude of 'looking forward' to what next year will hold for me. The biggest change I made in my life this year was to pretty much retire from the obsessive computer gaming that I did for the last 10 years, and to use that tenacity and ambition to something more productive, and to return to a definite need in my life - creating and performing music. RecordingReview.com was the first step into reviving the music dream and setting the ball in motion to create my own music project, to play live, and if the opportunity arises - to record and sell albums. I don't know where it will take me, but at least I'm feeling pretty good about where it can go as I write and organize/revive old songs and get to playing them for people to enjoy. Thanks to everyone who I have met here on RR.com, for all of your help and encouragement, I look forward to sharing more music with you and participating in these great forums. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you have the best of holidays coming up and that your New Year will be full of promise and good things. ![]() --------------------------------------------------- :: Winter On The Wind - DT Chris Old October come and gone, leaves on streets are painted Hint of Winter's cold embrace, we can feel it in the air Calm December just a breath away, with the promise of a new year Harvest time with all our friends, of all the ones we care I hope that all of this is for real And not a fleeting sense of good will We oughta hold this feeling for awhile For Winter is coming on the wind Oh Winter is coming on the wind Oh Winter I've been thinking 'bout what really matters, what I'm truly thankful for Thankful for another year, to try it all again All the things that I had to learn, were all of the things I needed For all this and you, and you and all, I thank the One above Welcome my friends, my friends (Gather round, gather round and get down) It's fall again, my friends (Gather round, gather round and get down) We've worked so hard to live (Gather round, gather round and get down) For all we have and will have We thank the One above --------------------------------------------------- Acoustic Guitar: Samick SW015DB Mics: SM58, used for both vocals and acoustic (12th fret pointed 45 degrees up) Interface: FastTrack USB Software: Audition 1.5 | Fruity Loops - Bass Track

I agree. I probably over-did the acoustic tracks for sure. I should have just kept it Guitar 1 Left, Guitar 2 (more picking) Right.

I really enjoy this track, great work!!.
Though in australia we dont celebrate thanks giving, i could really hear the emotion and seriousness in it, overall it was very plesant on the ears, in audio quality, and its compositional devices. Well done and all the best! |

No fair. You can really sing. Maybe everybody says "If I could really sing, I've have awesome songs", but I say it too!
Great job, dude. This is in that style my girlfriend really loves. This song has that "Tesla when they are using their 70s influences" vibe. I like the overdone vocals at the end. I'm always big on that. Great harmonies too. Brandon

not exactly my style, but great singing and vocal harmonies. really top-notch
.My friend has a band that plays acoustic type stuff like this and he wants me to record a few of their songs. This will be my first time recording acoustic guitars and clean vocals. I get a feeling that we're going to be doing a lot of overdubs/harmonies. How do you record the vocal harmonies? I can hear that you're hitting different notes, are you singing in octaves? (i'm not a vocalist so i'm not even sure if that's the correct terminology ) Also, they like to play/record live, but i want to record the guitars and vocals separate to get a better sound. Is this a good idea?

Music Major friend: "Chris, you can't put an augmented 9th over a C#Major11 add 6!" Me: "Why the hell not? It gets the sound I want." Music Major friend: "It's just wrong! Please don't! Please! It's against the rules of music!" Me: "Huh?" In other words, I don't know what the hell is happening when I do something. I just put things together to get the sound I want. ![]() Quote:
You're asking the wrong person, lol. I'm a newbie and have NO gear whatsoever - but I do what I can until I do ![]()
